Taylor Swift is in her sourdough era — here's how to bake like her

Updated: Sep 11, 2025

Taylor Swift broke the internet last week when she appeared on New Heights, the podcast hosted by her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason. She revealed two big updates: the name and cover of her 12th album, and her new post-Eras Tour obsession with baking sourdough bread.

"Right now we're very deep in a sourdough obsession that has taken over my life," Swift said, reflecting on her hobbies and life with Kelce following the nearly two-year run of her record-breaking Eras Tour. The couple has even baked together — and to Jason Kelce's disbelief, Swift insists Travis's sourdough is better.

Like any true sourdough enthusiast, Swift is deep in the sourdough blogs. "There's a whole community of us," she said, describing her favourite part of the internet. She's been experimenting with different variations, including blueberry lemon, cinnamon swirl, cinnamon raisin — and she's even workshopping a 'funfetti' version for Jason Kelce's daughters.

"The sourdough's taken over my life in a huge way. I'm really talking about bread 60 per cent of the time now," Swift said.

She's sent loaves to Kelce at Kansas City Chiefs training camp, and packaged them up for friends — sometimes with silly bread puns like "Are you bready for it?" or "It's a loaf story, baby, just say yeast."

So even if you've never baked a loaf but suddenly can't stop thinking about it, we've rounded up plenty of sourdough inspo to get you started — from making your own starter from scratch to pretty scoring ideas to tips for enjoying a slow 'hot girl bread night.'
